Harvest Records in West Asheville was the scene for live music early Saturday afternoon as Langhorn Slim and the Drive-By Truckers stopped by for two acoustic sets in the gravel lot behind the bustling record store. An estimated 200-400 people crowded around the impromptu stage and listened as Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley of the Drive-By Truckers sang a few off of their new album, The Big To-Do, while revisiting a few of the older classics with an acoustic sound that hearkened back to 2007s The Dirt Underneath Tour. The special event was a celebration of the third annual Record Store Day, and, with the Drive-By Truckers in town to play two nights at the Orange Peel, Mark Capon, co-owner of Harvest Records, thought it would be a great way for fans of live music to come by and celebrate, listen to music, buy a special edition record, and hang out and meet the band. It turned out to be a huge success.

  • CPC accoustic? Hot, Damn! I've always thought that a DBT "unplugged" would sell huge! These guys don't write lyrics, they write stories. And, damn good stories too. This is an American band.

  • That was an excellent video!! Thanks for posting that! I wish I was there:)
