Its a much deeper problem with anorexia.... its not the media causing it... however the media has made you believe most americans are overweight. theres fat people all over the world.

skyy let me put it this way: imagine that whenever you turn on the tv, you see a dude wtih a giant penis hangin out. you go outside and all the girls are focused on the guys with giant cocks. the girl you like doesnt even look at you because she is with a guy wih a huge cock. NOW, imagine you can grow your dick, even though its very unhealthy. you gonna tell me you wouldnt do it?
samething with anorexia, thin=pretty=good
if your not thin=not pretty= no one likes you. and thatts why girls do it

we need to take Personal Responsibility and stop blaming 'the media' for "unrealistic body images". Anorexic/Bulimic women have problems that McDonald's can't solve.

Actually, I think obesity can be partly attributed to the unrealistic body images the media imposes, also. A lot of obese people are emotional eaters, and I think in most cases these people feel extremely bad about their bodies as well. Being forced to look at extremely skinny people all the time (whether it be mannequins or models), can push you in either of these extreme directions (extreme overeating or starvation), especially if you have low self esteem or if you're emotionally unstable.
