I'm ex armed forces and didn't think it was in bad taste. If anything Jimmy was saying that the Paralympic will be fucking good because they are physically and mentally elite. Jimmy paid a compliment to the armed forces with this joke.

I was starting to get bored and then she said "newspapers afterwards... sudden decide that it's this big deal". That totally nailed it. The joke was not designed to be printed on a newspaper that anyone has access to. It's a transient statement used to provoke an instinctive enjoyable social emotion in that particular audience. If it did end up offending anyone, it's whoever printed these jokes on the newspaper who are distasteful, not Jimmy Carr.

Patrick Mercer is a wanker. I'm sick of people trying to tell me what is and isn't funny. I will laugh at whatever I find amusing. If you don't find it funny, don't laugh at it, but don't get mad at those of us who do. England is a democracy. America is a democracy.
