TEDxCalgary - Naheed Nenshi - Calgary 3.0. Using insights drawn from his work in business, entrepreneurship and social change, as well as modern GIS data, Naheed Nenshi explores the challenges of how a modern city like Calgary grows, and what some of the implications are for creating inclusive communities.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani,Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The annual TED Conference takes place in Long Beach, California, with simulcast in Palm Springs; TEDGlobal is held each year in Oxford, UK. TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily, and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world, and the TEDFellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

Follow TED on Twitter at twitter.com/TEDTalks, or on Facebook at facebook.com/TED.

TEDGlobal 2010, "And Now the Good News," will be held July 13-16, 2010, in Oxford, UK. TED2011, "The Rediscovery of Wonder," will be held February 28-March 4, 2011, in Long Beach, California, with the TEDActive simulcast in Palm Springs, California.

He's obviously very intelligent. I actually had him teach me Globalization at Mount Royal University. I have to say that he would be a very good choice for leading Calgary forward on a reasonable and attainable route.

I also really like that he wants to decrease poverty worldwide [and in Calgary, of course]. I think this is vital, as even CHILDREN are living in poverty, in fact, 1 out of 6 children in Canada live in poverty. That's embarrassing on a global scale and unethical as humans.

So organized, eloquent, and meticulous. Clearly there is a reason Ric McIver and Barb Higgins declined to be in a televised debate with the man, because he actually has something substantial to say.

The reason why there isn't any residential development eastward around the middle is that the area is most sloughs, with land mostly suitable only for warehouses and heavy industry.

Have a good look at Google Earth around 50th Ave and 52 St SE.

That is where those geese feed, that we see over Galgary as they fly in vees

    periodically over the summer

Why does the sound seem to bounce around from time to time (eg, its like it comes from the mic sometimes and from some echo-y microphone in the back corner of a concrete room sometimes) ?

Bless your soul Shane for pointing out Cardlizard's errors. What kind of world would we live in if it weren't for grammatical saints like you trolling the internet. All bow down to the superior Fage, for he can edit people's youtube comments better than anyone else I have seen! Forget Peter O'toole, You are a tool. noob.

How many screw-ups can you make in a single sentence? How many in a single word?

You screwed up TWICE in a single word. In two syllables, you have two mistakes.

quote: rail way's, walk way's, road way's ( I am going to presume you missed inserting the apostrophe incorrectly in "road way's").

How can you screw up TWICE in a single two syllable word?.... SEVERAL times... in a single sentence?

So, you're saying he's fat and brown. What other criteria for leadership have you developed? He gives you free gummi bears?

Post-script: what other "healthy lifestyle examples for children" do you have? Be a bigot?
