WE, as citizens of America, cannot be held responsible for the actions of Christopher Columbus, his crew, or the actions of Spain. None of us were around then. And while it can't hurt to have this knowledge, it also can't help. Knowing these things does, though, take away some of our feelings about October 12, 1492.

columbus was a butcher, killed many of the indigenous people & enslaved them

yet the usa celebrates oct 12 as discoverers day, glorifying the massacre of innocent people. when columbus reached the new world there were well over

8 million american indians. by the yr 1900 their numbers were reduced to less than 250,000.

1: he could write in italian but the reason he did't is becausedhe served for a long period of his life spain and portugal

3: he came hear to 1)find a new trade route to the indies, so they could trade silk and spices for a cheaper cost, and to spread Christianity

4 textbooks have reshaped the way non college student view Columbus but think that the present would not be so advance if it was't for him

5 the shapes were in good condition but they couldn't be compared to other ships like shun hes

why do ppl say he was an explorer? he didn't leave spain to explore anything. He was commisioned by queen isabella to go to china, not to 'discover' anything.he just came across totally strange civilizations inside then enslaved them and genocided them to pay for his fukked-up expedition.
