Pier Fishing for Salmon

Fishing for Lake Michigan salmon from the south pier in Sheboygan, WI with Addison Lee and his friends. Addison was using a simple set up consisting of a sinker, swivel, hook and foam. The bait was caught earlier. This is shown on another video. Bear Solis Outdoors; Copyright 2009; bearsolis.com

Very entertaining video.. we fish for Chinook Salmon out of various Lake Ontario peers and river mouths.. usually here though people fish with glow in the dark spoons or roe bags.. Don't see live minnows used that often.. and yeah, 13 pounds? I guess Lake Michigan Salmon are a bit smaller, because a 13 pound King here on Lake Ontario is a small to medium size 4th year Fish. The forage base isn't what it used to be here, but 20+ pound kings are still caught. I just added one more video with Addison casting spoons that might be a little more along the lines of what you do on Ontario. Good luck!

how do you get the alewifes? cast net?

They were caught with a dip net. We recorded another video just on that. Catching Alwife for Salmon Bait. Hope it helps!

Cool vids. That pier looks a little treacherous in early winter late spring if any water spray freezes. I fish from a wheelchair and think I'd probably end up swimming with the fishes up by your pier.lol we are still fishing mckinnley pier in Milwaukee for browns this time of year. Ko wobblers, swedish pimples, crankbaits. The brown trout fishing has been excellent this fall. Should be great right thru winter down by the summerfest grounds once they lock the pier up for the winter.

yes in is a baitcast rod that one guy was using..he had a spinning real on a rod that should have a baitcast over spincast reel on it. Nice video..fish down in milwaukee with glow in the darks at night..its a BLAST!!!

@dirtbikemike69 yeah think i might try that seen way to many rods end in the river when people dont pay attention to their rods. At least with a bottle u'll be able to hear it first.
