Per Raftery, "Onions" means big balls. Not making other team cry
-
I'm told onions stands for making the other team cry.
-
@Y2Jin99 nah i thought it was like that and the cinderella story with the stepsisters' using onions to cry, but it does have to do with having big balls...if you search the phrase in google theres an article about the origination of the phrase. i like to give it the double meaning - crying and mondo nads

@bigdongdennis76 Gus can not beat Bill Raftery.

gus is way better
-
@rherbst99 My guess was someone hits a huge shot making the other team "Cry" hence ONIONS!
-
I use to like Raftery but he is a cartoon now. All that matters is him getting in all his sayings and he never forgets to say MAN TO MAN in an exaggerated voice even when a team drops into a zone. Verne Lundquist Texas GOES MAN TO MAN! with a little zone principal.

ONIONS!

rherbst99 is right ,,,onions = having the balls to take the big shot and hitting it,,,,,,by the way ,,morehead st vs louisville today "ONIONS!"
-
"onions" doesn't mean big balls....Onions make you cry, so when someone makes a devastating shot, Raftery yells out "ONIONS!" cuz the other team just got bitch slapped and it's time for them to start crying
ONIONS!

I'm pretty sure "onions" is a reference to having big balls. He calls "onions" when someone demonstrates guts hitting a big shot or something.
