This mix shows the terrific talent of Alonzo Mourning. After leaving Georgetown, he was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 1992 with the 2nd pick right behind Shaquille O´Neal. Zo would bring success to the team together with Larry Johnson and Mougsy Bouges. But missing the playoffs Mourning was tradet to the Miami Heat and became the heart and soul at South Beach. He brought a powerfull, never giving up game, was a beast at defense and let the NBA a couple of times in blocked shots. The year 2000 would become the most furious year of his career: on the one hand, he became Defensiv Player of the Year, first NBA defensiv team, won the Gold Medal in Sidney, including a trip to the conference finals, you name it. On the other side he would get a diagnose, that would change his view and life forever: a rare kidney disease, which forced him to miss the entire next seasons. After a failed comeback and a further kindey transplation, he would finally return to the basketball floor, this time with the New Jersey Nets. Hoping that he could help the team to win their and his first NBA championship, the Nets would have other plans not resigning Kenyon Martin and Kerry Kittles. Jason Kidd suffered a knee injury and Zo was tradet again, this time for Vince Carter to the Toronto Raptors. Not playing one game for the Raptors, Mourning was waived and signed in Miami. He would be back with his old team, but coming from the bench as a roleplayer helping his old revival Shaq O´Neal and Dwyane Wade. After missing the finals 2005 and a struggling start 2006, the Heat run through the playoffs defeating the Dallas Mavericks in 6 games. Alonzo would get his ring and retired in 2009 after serious trouble with his knee.
One of the greatest center in the 90ies, maybe of all time, and a true warrior!

  • Best Zo video on youtube. Lots of good Charlotte clips. Zo finally got his chance to play in an NBA Finals and absolutely refused to let Dallas score in game 6. He knew it was his one and only chance and he willed his wrecked body to keep going. No question Zo had one of the greatest drives and wills of his generation. What an inspirational man.

  • there just isn't big men like zo, shaq, ewing, olajuwon and other guys in the nba anymore. sure, blake griffin is funny to watch, but these guys were just so mean and powerful. i wish everything could as high tech as it is today 20 years ago so i could watch these guys on league pass :)

  • @wordisborn92 they called him a warrior because he came back to play basketball after he had discovered he had a deadly kidney problem and after his kidney transplant

  • 1:47 dunked on Shawn Kemp!

  • haha this song is in happy feet 2!

  • god damn, he killed kobe smh

  • only if lebron had half the heart of zo

  • No basketball player should ever be called a "warrior". I love seeing a fight in professional team sports that can compete with a hockey fight. Way to go Andre! Cortland should've been a basketball player. Basketball was designed for chumps who talk trash and never back it up. If they ever do fight, you end up seeing a something that looks like two 3rd grade girls on a school yard like Johnson vs Mourning. What a bunch of pussies.

  • -BEST CENTER NBA ON 90 YEARS

  • I miss the NBA in the 90's. Rough and tough while still being smooth

  • he might not have a long arms.. , but he have the strongest arms..
