While miss Giordano is a good pop singer, her voice is just not suited to opera or popera. Her tone is too breathy and she doesn't have enough vibrato. I am glad that she is allowing others to enjoy arias, but I do hope her fans will also listen to real opera singers such as Anna Netrebko, Ruth Ann Swenson, Kathleen Battle, Renee Fleming, Beverly Sills, Lucia Popp, etc. to hear the difference in voice. I wish her all the best!

Awful - not pop nor opera - she cannot sing. It's not visceral. It's artificial and manufactured, she is a commodity and people can sell anything if they have customers stupid enough to be fooled and they do the marketing and pushing very well (or agressively).

I don't care about her lack of vibrato or her shortcomings concerning classical training. Her rendition moves me far beyond most of the other sopranos I've heard sing this particular aria.

I usually do care about the weightiness behind a voice, and the clarity of a classically-taught soprano; but in Filippa's case, her pull is visceral and has nothing to do with classical accuracy.

@rebital Fair enough. Everybody has different musical tastes. Sounds like you enjoy a lighter voice. You might try Kathleen Battle or Sumi Jo. Both of them have much lighter voices than the woman in the Casta Diva video I sent you.

@flowersings there are different ways to sing any aria,and differnt interprets may varry the way of acting.if you'll see all the videos about Casta Diva,you'll not find two song identicly perfomed.if you think you can sing better,go ahead! @flowersings Opera singers have to go through years of rigorous training. Most of them have a degree in vocal performance and a masters in music. Giordano doesn't even have basic voice training. She doesn't even hit half her pitches. Her high notes are some of the worst I've ever heard! She doesn't even breathe correctly. I don't want to be rude, but she is a joke in the opera world!! No one can stand to listen to her! It's okay if you like, but she IS NOT an OPERA SINGER!

@flowersings Do you have any training or education in classical voice? Trust me, she is no opera singer!!! She would never survive in an opera!!! Anybody can sing the words to an aria, but she doesn't even have an operatic voice!!! She would be laughed off the stage in an opera competition. She's a bad classical crossover singer- that's all!!! You need to listen to some real opera singers. When you do, you'll hear the difference!! Until then, this argument is futile!

@flowersings if those singers you've mentioned above have other kind of voices,doesn't means that Fillipa Giordano (who seems to sing an aria of the famous Norma) is not an opera singer.if she wasn't,she would never sing it !
