It won't surprise you to learn that NJ Governor Christie takes his animal/land management cues from those idiots at the National Rifle Association.

But it might surprise you to learn that NINE DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATORS are sitting members of the "New Jersey Hunter's Caucus," enabling Governor Christie and the NRA to push their (mostly commercial) interests in a state where 99.9% of residents DO NOT HUNT.

  • I find it highly ironic you claim to support science when the science actually supports the need for a hunt, tell me something JR, what viable cost effective alternative to a hunt do you propose that will keep the population in check while having the added benefit of reducing bear/human incidents as was evidenced by the hunts in 2003 and 2005.

Have you actually bothered to read the CBBMP? or the Aversive Conditioning Report? what about the DNA study conducted by ESU, or any other data?

  • if the NJ Government were interested in controlling the bear population, the division of fish and wildlife wouldn't be transporting bears from North to South Jersey. it's my belief that the best ways to reduce unwanted bear/human encounters is for us humans to secure our trash better. It's really that simple.

  • you people dont under stand. Bears are getting to comfortable around people, they are breaking into homes looking for more garbage and killing pets. Once a little boy or a grown person gets attacked and killed you"ll under stand. Were not killing all of the bear just some to lower the population for safe and comforitable places to live. Bears are walking into neighborhoods looking for garbage and if they find some their going to stay their and keep eating it everytime you put it out!

  • @jrlassiter : "i am not familiar with any instances of a bear mauling a person or a dog in New Jersey. enlighten me.a'

how about you educate and enlighten yourself instead...a simple "nj bear kills dog" on Yahoo or Google search yields numerous results, for someone against the hunt you sure seem to be woefully uneducated about it.

  • @jrlassiter: I hate to be the bearer...no pun intended...of bad news, but your 'opinion' is useless since garbage complaints are actually down. If you would have bothered to have read the complaint report from 2006-2009 you would have seem it for yourself. It amazes me the lengths people will go to avoid actually using facts to substantiate their position.

  • @jrlassiter "transporting bears"? what planet are you on? are you serious? I assume you have evidence of this grand conspiracy, I have heard this from your buddies at the BEAR Group as well as the one about F&G "transplanting" geese, coyotes and mountain lions, when I ask for proof I get the "the proof is in the pudding" answer from them. I do not even know what that is supposed to mean.

  • @UpThePunx87 sounds like we actually share a libertarian streak to be honest. and i am not against hunting in general. I'm from the south. I even have a gun permit. but nowadays, the rules make it a lot less sporty and a more like a video game. i am just opposed to the Division of Fish and Wildlife interjecting their politics into science. Their plan to curb the bear population includes transporting bears to different parts of the state which is worthy of ridicule IMHO.

  • @jrlassiter I don't think it is that simple. It would definitely help, I believe that. However we have been tearing down the bears habitat. The bears wander, just like any other animal. Sometimes they wander into neighborhoods. Maybe sometimes it's because of trash, but I personally think it's also because they have less woodlands to run around in.

  • @jrlassiter I only brought up the abortion because of a video that you have on your channel that is a pro choice video, which to me seems a bit off because I value human life over an animals. As far as the death penalty goes, I'm not strongly for or against. Same with abortion. I think it has it's places. And you are credible as far as I'm concerned. It's just one of my pet peeves that there are people out there that don't like hunting yet eat meat from a grocery store.

  • @UpThePunx87 yes i am a vegan. do i meet your credibility requirements now? and since your raised the topic of abortion....how do you feel about the death penalty by the way?

  • @jrlassiter I don't find it to be a romantic notion at all. My dad shot a deer tonight. The meat from that deer is now meat that doesn't have to be bought at the store. Money saved. And you're kind of skirting around my question. Are you a vegan? Do you use/eat any animal products? If you think hunting is cruel, then you need to watch a video from a slaughter house. If you eat meat, or wear leather, then let's face the fact that you have no credibility.
