Corrupt politicians versus MEPs on a workers wage

Several topics including bankers & shortsellers, financially corrupt politicians, and dishonest use of language by politicians were discussed at a rally in the city centre on 26th May 09 ahead of the forthcoming elections on 4th June by Dr Nik McKerrel, one of the speakers at the meeting. In this video pt 1 of his speech he hits out at corrupt politicians fiddling their expenses. It's a scandal that politicians can legally claim expenses for things that the rest of us on lesser incomes have to pay out of our own money e.g. food, household bills, not to mention all the luxuries and false claims they also add to their expenses. MPs earn £65,000 a year. Is £65,000 a year not enough for rent and food? It's far more than what the average person earns in Britain. The SSP is the only party whose elected representatives accepted only the wage of an average skilled worker and donated the remainder of their salary to the party to fund more workers and office staff to help in the campaigning to bring about a fairer society for all. Politicians earning above the average wage are out of touch with the ordinary people in society. How can politicians understand and serve the needs of the majority when they cocoon themselves in wealth and an all-expenses-paid lifestyle? The SSP MEP candidates pledge, if elected, to live on an average workers wage, and only legitimate expenses, such as travel to the European parliament, will be claimed. This is in contrast to the MEPs from the bigger parties who live it up on their expense account in addition to claiming their full MEP's high salary.

the problem with the socialists is that where ever they have got into power they are just as corrupt as the rest of them. a bunch of lying, thieving, corrupt, power hungry ,incompetent criminals!!!!!!!!!
