You can hear Blossom singing when it gets to "Mother Edison" then again when the song gets to "Elias Howe", and at "Robert Fulton" weeeeeeee

And in this Schoolhouse Rock, she sings to us about "Adjectives"!!!!

I hope there are even more of her in Schoolhouse Rock, but these two smacked me upside the head one day when I was watching videos. The videos on youtube do not credit Ms. Dearie.

  • Hi John,

Thank you SO much! The video was lovely!

    I really adored Blossom!

Do you happen to have any of her sheet music?

    Happy New Year!

It was sweet of you to send this to me!

    My best,

    Linda

  • @huntincabaretingers unfortunately, I do not Linda :(

  • I just heard she passed :( I remember hearing her on the radio a few times in the early 70's. I thought what a neat voice she had! ..... I havent heard her in years but always remembered that voice.... and YOU sound just like her... Thank you...//*u*\\

  • Thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comment, she was a gift, for sure.

  • Wonderful tribute - I hope more people start appreciating her individuality and innate musicality; it's sad that people are not as well known during their lifetime as afterwards. :( R.I.P. Ms. Blossom Dearie.

  • I agree, thank you so much for watching.

  • Check out "Surry With the Fringe on Top" !!! It's on the Tube, and it's one of those gems of hers... she had this way of making you feel like everything was going to be alright...a really easy-going vibe that is almost healing.

  • I have known Blossom for about 20 years...she spent her weekends in East Durham which is her place of birth. Though I am about 45 years her junior I took quite a few nice walks w/ her and she spent quite a lot of her time sitting around w/ me because she was my next door neighbor. Though I knew she was a singer in NYC we really never discussed her singing career... .. ......Marc C

  • R.I.P! btw, how'd you upload this in 2008, if she died in 2009?

  • I just saw this and cried, I never knew who Blossom Dearie was but check this out. In may of this yr I cleaned out my grandmas attic and found a picture of grandpa working a marionette puppet thing, I asked mom, she said he made it and named it Blossom, i then youtubed puppets and came across biggest puppet video which had a remix of It Amazes Me, I then discovered Blossom Dearie and fell in love with her. gramps wouldve been 85 this yr. and he loved jazz. weird as this is, I have that puppet...

  • thanks jerilynn i enjoyed you tribute, I loved her as well

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! What an absolutely adorable tribute, JeriLynn! I only recently became aware of Blossom, thanks to youtube. What a unique voice & talent! How sad that she passed away last year. KUDOS on a job well done, young lady! THANKS for sharing it with us! You've MADE my day & my weekend! :)

  • Thanks for that lovely tribute. My wife and I both fell in love with Blossom's singing in the 1960s when we saw her on UK TV - long before we had met. Imagine our joy when we were on holiday in New York in 2005 - wandered along West 46th Street - Restaurant Row - paused outside Danny's Starlight Room and saw that Blossom was performing that very evening! We rushed in and booked a table for what was the most magical evening of our lives - just us and 30 or 40 others and Blossom - FANTASTIC!

  • I saw Blossom the year before she died with my wife, she was great - a bit frail, we bought one of her cd's and she signed it - I told her that we love her music and singing and we'd listen to her on road trips, she looked a little perplexed...

I didn't realize at the time that she sang "figure 8" the great song from School House Rock - also featured in Noah baumbach's The Squid and the Whale....

    bye Blossom

  • Blossom was awesome, had the good fortune to know her as an aquaintance and occasional drinking buddy ... MDG
