#1 - East Village Ikimashou!
---------------------------------------------------
In this introductory episode of Japan Society's new series, "Nihon New York", we explore New York City's East Village in search of Japanese food and cuisine.

Along the way we see the sights and sounds of St. Marks Place and the intersection of Japanese culture in NYC.

Through "Nihon New York" we hope to show the variety and mixture of Japanese culture throughout NYC, with it's food, fashion, art, music, games... anything we can find.

Please feel free to comment and give us any ideas on topics, places and parts of Japanese culture that you want us to investigate!

Thanks for watching and stay tuned for upcoming episodes!

  • This video is so beautiful...I wonder what kind of camera they used for this...

  • @Ryan4469

We used a Canon EOS Rebel T2i with a sigma 1.4 lens.

  • i finally tried tokoyaki (octopus) and the calpico drink thx to you guys it was great! i never knew these spots were in the east village and that jas mart is pretty cool i'm gonna visit there more often. thx again!!

  • @TUNERJDM Great!! glad you liked them and were able to make it down to the east village. There's fantastic Japanese food all throughout nyc, but down near st. marks it's certainly very condensed. Takoyaki and Calpico (calpis) can be an acquired taste, but I've grown to really like them and all the other japanese drinks/snacks you can find. Keep watching! We'll try to get to some more food places along the way!

  • really dig your ink!

  • My senior class is taking a trip to NYC in March (Almost a month away) and I have been looking for places like this. Hopefully I'll be able to visit places like this when there! Thank you!

  • I liked the video, but the constant soft focus was annoying.

  • Kewpie mayonnaise is the best in the world, much much better than American mayonnaise(s).

  • Great video! I heard in the beginning that it was focused on NYC, so not really applicable in Seattle, but it was still a great video. You folks should come out west to our little city and see what it has to offer :-) Peace!

  • fantastic footage, video editing is great for the most part, but please, for the love of god, give Kristen a microphone. I can't hear her.

  • This footage was really informative and cool!! Makes me wanna go visit NY heh : )
