VIR Crash

Inexperienced driver (me) took the Rollercoaster far too hot, and punishment was dealt.

man i've been watching all the amatuer track day VIR crashes and it seems like they all happen shortly after the car in front of them signals the OK to pass them....weird

@YogiAndBooBooAndMe It actually makes sense if you've ever done it, Yogi, for a couple reasons at least.

1st being, the car being passed does NOT leave the optimal racing line, whereas the passing car is the one who goes off-line, to make the pass. Thus, potentially entering the corner at a less-than-optimal angle, where there is less grip.

Also, as was slightly the case with me, you can get a case of the "red-eye" when chasing down another good driver, and push too hard.

@YogiAndBooBooAndMe For an inexperienced driver (like I very much was at the time), I was very used to driving one and only one line around the track. So taking an alternate line through a corner usually threw me off. Worse, doing that at the same time as hitting that corner too hot, and continuing to trail brake as I crested that hill in a poor attempt to slow down pretty much did me in lol. Car is great - check my other videos :)

@Topkartracer Not too worse for the wear. No airbags blown (obviously) and no major damage, surprisingly.

@MightyBobo i've actually never been on a road course like this, i'd like to though. Just something i noticed when watching these videos. Makes sense now that you bring up those points...kind of ups the potential for something to go wrong. Hope your Z is doing better tho!
