I thought I would upload my espresso routine for the evening using my newly acquired Creative Labs Vado (HD) recorder. What you are seeing is a cooling flush down to 206F to remove the super heated water out of the heat exchanger. Next, I grind, dose and tamp. Prior to pulling the shot, I do a backflush using a blank disc portafilter to around 205F. I lock and load the portafilter and the rest is espresso nirvana. Cheers.

  • Where did you get the cups..

  • @bmurphskiing Intelligentsia Store in Chicago.... but I don't think they sell these anymore. These cups are nice and solid!

  • how long was the pre infusion?

  • the E61 has pre-infusion already per the design, but I usually play with pulling up the lever to extend it a bit. Sometimes pulling it up slowly over a couple of seconds.

  • Also your lucky to have this setup, i wish i did, what a great grinder and machine

  • Thank you and i dont think they do either, haha, they sell different ones without a logo, :(

  • Whats the porpuse of pre backflush ?

  • hmmm.. i might check out that mod and see if i can do it with mine! nice tamper. I think ill get a Pullman though, an Australian version of RB.

I cant wait :) keep making coffee and posting more vids!

  • Thanks! I try my best... I had to go through a lot of bad shots before I got to these. Regarding the grinder, I did the electric tape mod on the doser veins. I think I added it only to two veins and it's held up for over a year now. Still sweeps clean. The tamper is a RB *stubby version* The grinder is a WEGA Max, which is a rebadged Compak grinder. But I think the newer Compaks are nicer. But for what I paid, it was a pretty good deal.

  • oh nice. I like your grinder too, its quiet.....also when your dosing, its really clean on the inside. It gets all the grinds! the mini mazzer doesnt and I have to use a brush...

I like the way you dose, collapse and tamp. good job.

    Is that a RB tamper?
