I wonder if they had some corrosive ammo shot through some of these to mess u the bluing. Mine looks like yours around the topof the magazine,where the shell ejects and the end of the barrel,and alittle on the extractor. But the bore looks great inside

Likely was blood that took the blueing off. Had that happen with my 1911 because a dern fool wants to handle it right after dressing a deer and didn't tell me or wash his bloody hands. Took the blueing right off when I cleaned it off after finding it dirty.

I would imagine doing any restoration on these old guns would only decrease their value.

I had to laugh about the suggestion to send it back to the factory for rebluing.

I love old Colts. I wish I had one!
why don't you just send it off to smith and wesson to reblue it? it's probably less than 50 with the shipping.
