Really folks. The Queen Mary is the grandest ship afloat,yet her staterooms are tiny by comparison to what people expect in hotels, let alone cruise ships. Other ships like this one pale in comparison, not the least due to their SOLAS compliant interiors. They were nice while moving but not much to consider as hotels. The SS US is completely stripped and was never elegant from day 1. They've got pretty lines, but that doesn't make them worth saving.

Yes, she is dead now. Maritime Matters has the pictures of her current state. the rear third of the ship has now broken off and is going off at an angle of about 15 degree's. from center. the ship is listing badly, sinking into the mud.
Its very sad this happened, She was a great, grand ship. Should would have made a nice hotel.
