LHP Rinku Singh and RHP Dinesh Patel are believed to be the first athletes from India ever to sign pro baseball contracts. They were identified about six months ago from a group of 30,000 other athletes in India competing to win a "Million Dollar Arm" contest. For the past 6 months both pitchers had been training with pitching coach Tom House at USC, in preparation for a November tryout in Tempe, Arizona.
I happened to get one of Rinku's fastball deliveries in slo-mo with the Fastec camera at the USC Prospect camp in August, 2008.
We just saw the great news about Dinesh and Rinku signing free-agent contracts with the Pittsburgh Pirates in today's paper! Congratulations Dinesh and Rinku!!!
He just made it up to WV Power and is on the fast track for AA baseball in altoona maybe by the end of this year. Boys we could see this guy in 2 years in the rotation!

May I inquire as to where did they did their training? There was a facility in So. Calif. that offered them facilities apparently, but the press releases don't name it - I of course assume that Tom House used the U.S.C. facilities to a certain extent.
