Lush tune used by UK offshore pirate radio stations years ago.
Radio Caroline director Philip Solomon ran the Irish Major Minor label, which had on its books various folk bands and crooners such as the Bachelors.
As the stations money problems increased and Solomon's influence became greater, DJ's were obliged to plug his records. This caused enormous resentment on both ships from the staff who had become political outlaws forced to feed Solomons music onto the listeners

  • Will all the vinyl you have you should update your copy of this song and re-post it with the same pictures. Great tune.

  • @NcicHit2 Good point. 3.5 years ago I had a crap scanner and camcorder, and these old clips do seem a bit ropey. I give it some thought

  • What is the B-side to this?

  • @logolover24 A tune called 'When A Man Loves A Woman'

  • Is the needle worned?

  • @standolit No, but the record sure is!

  • @TimWolfe Ed Stewart regularly used Floyd Cramer's 'On The Rebound' as an up to the news record!

  • the song of "michel polnareff"

  • what great days when we were all young with no problems

  • Reminds me of sitting in my Austin 7 with a packed lunch in the car park of Cambridge College Of Arts & Technology, listening to the 'Pirates' in the early Winter of ' 67,frozen to death , with my little Pye transistor radio !.I have never tired of this instrumental gem , the Raymond Lafevre version is the best in my opinion.

  • @Sids60sSounds I have heard this song since '69 and never did know who recorded it. Every time the radio stations would play it and never say the name or anything else. I bought a Billy Vaughn album and it was on on the album. After I heard it I looked the information up on Google. I found your video and listen to the song a number of times. I bought the LP and the .45. From '69 to 2009 was a longtime to look for a song that one didn't even know the name of. I guess I owe Billy and you.

  • Still all time favorite and I can honestly say I have never tied of this song.
