Fibromyalgia is when you have pain above or below your waist, sometimes in your joints and connective tissue and in the muscles. In the United States alone between four and six million people have Fibromyalgia which is roughly 2% of our population. AZ Pain Centers is one Valley location that helps diagnose and treat patients with Fibromyalgia symptoms. The symptoms of Fibromyalgia can mirror other ailing so it's important to see an expert to confirm your condition. To diagnose Fibromyalgia AZ Pain Centers looks at 18 points known as tender or trigger points. The areas that these points reside are as follows:

- Lower neck in front
- Edge of upper breast
- Below side bone at elbow
- Just above knee or inside
- Base of the skull
- Neck and shoulder
- Upper and inner shoulder
- Upper outer buttock
- Hip bone

Basically, if you have pain when a physician touches these areas you may be a candidate for Fibromyalgia. A patient must have 11 of the 18 trigger points to be considered Fibromyalgia. The cause of Fibromyalgia is unknown at this point and there is no cure. The number one thing that needs to be done to help treatment is light exercise such as walking and getting your body into a normal sleep cycle.

AZ Pain Centers helps treat your symptoms to ease your pain so you can conduct daily activities such as light exercise to help your condition. By treating your pain you will also be able to work on a better sleep cycle which will help your fatigue and overall help your Fibromyalgia.
