Harmonica: Orange Blossom Special is the litmus test for all aspiring harmonica players. If you are a harmonica player, then you must be able to play O.B. Special. This tune separates the men from the boys (and the women from the girls). This version was recorded by Tim Gibbs, Phil Clanton and Danny Wilder at Tim's Toybox in Madison, Alabama. The Harmonica was added by Ray "Bama Jammer" Steelman at Papa's Playhouse in Huntsville, Alabama.
Ray Steelman plays his latest version of Orange Blossom Special. The harmonica was recorded on December 17, 2010. Played on a Hohner Meisterklasse F & Bb harmonica. The Miesterklasse is Hohner's Cadillac of the diatonic harmonicas. This is Ray's first recording ever using a Meisterklasse. This amateur video and audio was prepared solely for You Tube and are for educational, comparison and criticism purposes only. The video was shot at Huntsville, Alabama's Depot and Museum. It was built in 1860 and was captured by Federal troops on April 11, 1862 during the Civil War. It was turned into a prison war camp. Grafitti from the rebel soldiers is still on the walls in the upstairs rooms.
This arrangement is copied after one of Charlie McCoy's versions of O.B. Special.
