110203 - Chinese New Year in Chengdu

Well you got to hand it the Chinese; they know how to throw a party. Fireworks like I've never seen growing up in South Africa and New Zealand.

We live on the 17th floor of an apartment building and have access to the roof. We had a few friends (mainly fellow teachers and their children) over to enjoy the good vantage over the city.

Note: When fireworks (rockets / mortars) are shot up into the night sky... many of then explode around 17 storeys high.

Stu, Julie and Andrew... we've got a special box of treats stored up for when you come to visit!

We had 27 people at our house and everyone contributed towards the night's entertainment. Most of what you saw was not ours though... it was just the neighbourhood celebrations exploding at our apartment level! (17 storeys up)

I can't say the little crackers etc were that cheap in comparison to prices I remember back in South Africa. The big boxes of mortars (rockets) weren't too expensive though!
