Here is a short video I shot a couple of weeks after installing an invisible fence. Just shows the two dogs playing in the yard. I installed the fence and trained the dogs myself. (The installation took me a couple of weeks because the yard is almost an acre. Ended up being about 900 feet of wire). By the way, these two dogs were both adoptions from Rochester Animal Services. They are now inseparable !
I'm looking at houses in a rural area and wanted to see how well these invisible units work. Glad to see it's worked well for you. $300 and doesn't ruin your view like a chain link is nice and quite a steal.

@reasonisgood - They work great. Like I said earlier, the key is to train them properly. Too many people just put the fence in and then dump the dog in the yard and they don't understand why the dog is always getting shocked and still runs out of the yard. I have seen plenty of videos online about training them but basically you walk the line with the dog on a leash (with flags in) and when the collar beeps you lead him back into the yard BEFORE he gets shocked. It may take a week. Don't rush

@derekmo29 I posted it for my friends who couldn't believe the Chow/Shepherd mix (yellow dog) would ever stay in the yard. He came from our local animal shelter (where I volunteer) and was an untrained maniac. This video was posted 8 months ago, so just to update... they really don't require the collars anymore and NEVER get shocked when they have them on. Unfortunately, some people just don't take the time to train them properly.

I got a masonry blade for my circular saw (From Lowes for about $5) and cut a grove in the driveway about 3/4" deep. Ran the wire through the groove and then sealed with Black RTV caulk (Autozone). Just make sure you caulk the ends real good so you can't cut the wire with a week whacker. This is about an acre lot. Took about 800-900 feet of wire. With DIY all materials + 2 collars was still under $300. Of course, you have to do the training yourself.
