I'm a latecomer to the series. Played 1404 for a bit... currently playing continuous on 2070. Never been one for strategy games too much but 2070 is immensely enjoyable for me and I love the learning curve. With the game I lose all sense as a responsible adult gamer and before I know it it's already 4am in the morning lol.

@BanjoGate I felt the exact same with 1701 (it has the tax system back, which was dropped for 1503). To be honest when comparing any of the Anno games to other sim games like Ceasar or Settlers, the Anno franchise is a lot better. However history will always favour Civilization and Sim City; there the two that are always mentioned in computer/video game history books. Out of the dozens of books I've read about video history only ONE mentions the Anno series.

@amigagames I've never read a BOOK that mentions either anno or simcity.. But they aren't very much alike.
SimCity is more of ... a city simulator, while anno is part city sim, part rts, part economic sim

@BanjoGate "Game on: The History and Culture of Videogames". The only book (to my knowledge anyway) that mentions Anno 1602.

@MyTube7770 Anno 1503 has the most annoying feature and that was by removing the amount of tax you could charge people. Instead you had to build different markets for certain items. Even with this I still say all of the Anno games are great.
