It's Mikhail Lermontov's A Prayer (1839). The language is rather archaic and some lines can be pretty hard to articulate even for a native speaker. So kudos to John for the effort!

Ув. yeniseipunk! Не знаете ли Вы, почему Джон Клиз выбрал для декламирования именно Лермонтовскую "Молитву", действительно очень сложную для произношения (да и прочитал он ее "вразбивку" и как-то чересчур пафосно). Ведь Клиз является еще и автором сценария к этому фильму, так что, скорее всего, это его личный выбор. Но ощущение такое, что он не знает, о чем это стихотворение.

I do find it a bit disgusting when Archie takes his pants off and puts them on his face. You what know pants get like after a bloke's been walking around in them all day (although maybe Cleese was given nice clean fresh pairs to use for this scene)
