"Israel was born out of Jewish Terrorism" Tzipi Livnis Father was a Terrorist" Astonishing claims in the House of Parliament. SIR Gerald Kaufman, the veteran Labour MP, yesterday compared the actions of Israeli troops in Gaza to the Nazis who forced his family to flee Poland.
During a Commons debate on the fighting in Gaza, he urged the government to impose an arms embargo on Israel.
Sir Gerald, who was brought up as an orthodox Jew and Zionist, said: "My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town a German soldier shot her dead in her bed.
"My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza. The present Israeli government ruthlessly and cynically exploits the continuing guilt from gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the Holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians."
He said the claim that many of the Palestinian victims were militants "was the reply of the Nazi" and added: "I suppose the Jews fighting for their lives in the Warsaw ghetto could have been dismissed as militants."
He accused the Israeli government of seeking "conquest" and added: "
They are not simply war criminals, they are fools."
@finders5 There is a need for a fundamental shift by the Palestinian leadership if peace is to have any chance at all....I believe the same could be said of many in the government of Israel. Who will make the first move. Do you believe the continued policy of Israel as it exists now, will lead to an outcome good for Israel? Let alone humane and just for Palestinians? Peace

@finders5 That peace works with Egypt would seem to refute that assertion. Times are changing in the Arab street, maybe now the time is ripe for common sense and common ground. To deny Israel exists or will continue to exist is an untenable and illogical position. To deny that Israel has taken advantage of Her position of power to wrest land and rights from Palestinians is equally absurd. Peace

@finders5 You know that is an oversimplifacation. If your family kicked my family out of my house then invited all your relatives over to take the house next door and indeed the whole block, then cut off the water and sewage plants to the trailer park where I ended up, then killed my kids "by accident" when one of the dispossed fought back might be closer to the truth. Peace

@finders5 Hamas is not anything like Bin Laden. And I did not negotiate with anyone. These talks, who is involved, where are they taking place, under whose direction? You intrigue me, I honestly have heard nothing of this. Great tidings is it not? Peace

@finders5 Sounds like a good basis for negotiations. Do you see it happening any time soon? Peace

@finders5 I do not. I said, this courageous man speaks truth to power. I admired him for it and have been defending that position ever since. Right of return, who did what to whom and when, all besides the point. That Israel gets a free pass and Palestinians get no press or called terrorists is what drives me on. This man agrees. Peace

@finders5 Now you're having a laugh! Good one. Peace

@finders5 That is the offer put on the table, surely you don't believe they will accept only that. No one could be expected to agree to terms that spell disaster. Israel knows how to negotiate, the deal with Egypt proves that. Hamas intransigence and back peddling would weaken their cause if a two state solution showed itself to be beneficial for Palestinians. Peace

@finders5 No interest in a ceasefire. You have to bomb innocents in order to get at rocket firing militants, and you are not interested in a ceasefire? You can't have it both ways. If the threat is so grave you need kill innocent civilians surely a ceasefire of any length is desirable. Peace
