What I find interesting about Luther is that he admitted Peter was the rock of Matthew 16:18, but could not or would not admit that Peter had sucessors in the Popes. If he had, then he would have had some explaining to do;)

What most people don't know about him is that because of his sola scriptura stance, he didn't condemn polygamy and thought it was okay since the bible never condemns polygamy. He advised Philip of Hesse to hide his second wife. The Lutheran church in Liberia even allows polygamy.

I dislike so much what Martin Luther did. I like that he stood against indulgences but almost all his teachings were off. He actually IS portrayed as some hero and prophet (without actually calling him one) in many Lutheran churches (primarily the conservative ones). I'm glad I am going to be leaving. To Orthodoxy I shall go!

The thing about Luther quotes, they are literally over the place. He says one thing one day, & on some other day he utterly contradicts the previously statement. Then on some other day, he says something that is contrary both preceeding statements. I've never heard the Jesus was a fornicator thing though. Jesus forgive me for even writing such words. I have to wonder if it is...hmm...apocryphal.

@zpkka: do you have chap. & verse on that? Could you just name some of them? Moses had only 1 wife, the Midianite Zipporah. As for Father Abraham. He only had one wife at any time. He only remarried after his 1st died. He never married Hagar & she is never counted as a wife. Only Sarah's children received a full inheritance as a proper wife.
