im black and i think that hilarious. dont take it so seriously. black slaves did speak that way because they were from the south. of course you don't talk that way today but im sure some black peoples grandparents do talk that way because i know mine do. good job do. im actually reading this book right now

You already have people reading this looking like they are extras from "Roots". If anything, that is more offensive than this boy. They are setting us back as well. He is reading it like that because he thought it was funny to do that ridiculous accent that is the Hollywood version of the slaves. Don't knock him, knock the idiots that he got it from.

The accent really isn't funny. It just shows his immaturity at the time. If I, as a black woman, read this with a deep voice like his, people would crucify me. Why is it okay with him, because he is reading a narrative by a black person.I am not saying it is okay, but we shouldn't take everything too seriously, especially on youtube!!

if only you would have read it correctly, that accent takes away from the message & the stuttering is epic... lol im jus trying to get out of buying the book for history class, but thanks anyway
