Finally, two long years after starting the game (and many more on top of that since I first played it) I have completed Grandia. For your viewing pleasure, I present to you the cheesy, yet ultimately satisfying ending of what is regarded as one of the best RPGs on the PSX.
What are my own thoughts on the game? Well, I played Grandia 2 before it back in 2002, and I loved every moment of that game. Now, having played Grandia 1, I can see exactly where Grandia 2's roots lie, with both games having very similar events and themes that do well enough to tie them together as a franchise.
Grandia 1 was a pleasant surprise, for as much hype as the game generally gets due to nostalgia, I was expecting it to be somewhat lacklustre, I was wrong. The first Disk, or at least the first half of it, was boring, but the same can be said for any grand RPG, and is a flaw that I can overlook after "The End of the World" about two-thirds of the way through it. The Second Disk did well to pull me back into the game, that is, after I eventually passed the Virgin Forest and the various technical difficulties that I ran into with the game for a while. Everything past the big reveal of Gaia was nothing short of brilliant, on par, and sometimes even better, than Grandia 2.
It's just a shame that Grandia 3 never came out in the EU, otherwise I'd like to have given that a try too, but oh well, I'm happy with the two that I've been able to get my hands on!

OMG I don't think I noticed how cheesy it was when I saw it - think I was just pleased to have FINALLY done in the baal dude!
