It was released on the NeoGeo Pocket Color, which was a handheld released by SNK to compete with the Gameboy Color.

The first level has a layout VERY similar to the EHZ layout, though.

None of the levels have the same layout as the Megadrive games. But there is a level very much like Aquatic ruin. (again besides the layout)

Whatever the third stage in Sonic 2 on Genesis is what was missing. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd stages (haven't gotten farther than third) are completely from Sonic 2.

Everything you said here is kinda wrong. It's NOT a port of ANY game, but it is infact VERY reminiscent of Sonic 2. Marble Zone was in Sonic 1. You can play as Tails in two player mode if you're the second player.

I wanna get this game. I played a ROM of it. It's a great port of Sonic 2 on the Genesis, but it's missing the Marble Zone! And you can't play as Tails! Other than that, it's not too bad.
