One of the more controversial bills to come up this week includes HB 216, an effort to change state law to allow pharmacists, pharmacies and institutions to decline to fill any drugs that violate their conscience. While the bill received support from pro-life advocates, most public comments came from pharmacists, who argued the bill is unnecessary. The bill passed the State Affairs Committee with a 14-4 vote, anyway, but members recommended the legislation be changed and directed solely toward pharmacists.
Watch the bill's sponsor talk about the proposed changes, followed by testimonies from different viewpoints.
