Someone say I'm wrong if I'm wrong, but I believe it's basically holding out long notes till the very last bit because you really don't have to hit the notes right on. If you have ever played DDR, then you would know about hitting the notes perfect, good, poor, etc. (watever they are) Basically his holding out the long notes and hitting the next notes as far away from "perfect" as possible, without messing up, if you know what I mean.
