Using this video I had no problem taking the bolt apart, cleaning it, and putting it back together on the one I just bought. Thanks.
However, like the Mosin M44 I have, I can keep running patches with Hoppe's No. 9 on them through the barrel all day and they still keep coming back dirty. Do I just need a brass bore brush or is this relatively normal?

What sort of cleaning tools do you recommend for the K31? Vintage Swiss cleaning kits or something in .308 caliber since the chambering is almost the same? I bought a K31, love it, but want to get a cleaning kit before firing it any more.

Nor should you be! :)
The K31 is a great rifle to shoot, and an easy one to maintain. When I bought mine, my buddy showed me the teardown in less than 2 minutes, and I had it. Very easy.

That goes without saying. While the wood on my K31 shows the character of many years, I'm awed at the care my rifle has received where it counts most. I almost feel like I'm just a temporary custodian, and it will be treated as such.

I agree!
Sorry for taking so long to approve this comment, but I've been quite busy.

Thanks, and well done.macguyinnc. I'm a 'new to me' K31 owner of less than 24 hours. Kudo's.

Thank you kindly! I was glad to be of assistance.
And good choice in firearms, too. The K31 will never do you wrong, so long as you return the favor.
