These interests are closing achievement gaps, reducing dropout rates, and improving teacher quality, but teacher rights must exist hand in hand.

These are excellent interests and the folks who edited this video tried to make it look like he said the opposite of his words.

@mrucko99, it is frightening that you seem to even believe what you have posted. Nothing you can show demonstrate that the teachers or their unions hold those as their goals. Since the teachers' union started, spending has gone up and quality fell though the floor.

I think it's funny how he has to say all the stuff at the end when he hears that only 1% of his audience applauded all the cold-hearted stuff at the beginning. And even when he made his follow up "clarification" comment, he didn't get thunderous applause. Folks, these are sick people who are accessing your children's minds. Talk to your children. Talk to your teachers. STAY ON TOP OF IT! The last thing you need is to have unwittingly raised a liberal brain-washed slacker of a child.

I am a senior in college who is already forced to pay NEA dues for professional liability insurance to be allowed to student teach. Think back to your high school days. Ever notice the teachers most involved in the union were usually the ones you hated to have for class? They don't care about the students, professional development, or improving society as a whole. They just want their benefits. Children of America spend 15,210 hrs of their lives with people who can essentially not be fired.
