That kit is one of the best sounding kits I've ever heard...and the fact that Mikkey Dee isn't more well-known in the drumming community proves he is the most underrated drummer ever. Period.

I love Metallica but he doesn't come close to Mickey. Seen them live last month do a solo and he hardly looked like he broke a sweat.

Can't believe that he can keep that pace? Jeeeesus?! Will he ever get tired? Saw them a couple of days ago and drum solo came at the end of the concert. He must have been conditioned as an elite athlete. And is was loud as hell. Bass drums felt like a kick in the chest! It needed no viagra ;)

It is so much better live. Mikkey is extremely talented. Another amazing drummer to me is The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold. Given his age he was definitely way past his time. Lars is not very good and I can't believe the direction Metallica is going with their music. I was disgusted with their new CD called Lulu and Death Magnetic wasn't very good. Each album from them gets worse.

@praisecamwise it really is true. i would only add Paul Mazurkiewicz from Cannibal Corpse to that list, but that's really about it in terms of metal "history." Lars was always a hack, no matter how many good songs Metallica made, and real metal aficionados know this.

ok, ive seen both Mikkey and lars play loads of times.
in know that a lot of comments come down to personal band favourites, Motorhead or metallica,
simple fact of the matter is that Mikkey Dee rules.
Lars could only dream of being as good as mikkey, perhaps if Lars lived another 10 lives he could come close to Mikkey, but i doubt it.
hands down, Mikkey Dee is the best rock/metal drummer alive.
