Video showing spectacular images of the innermost planet of our Solar System, Mercury, taken by NASA's robotic MESSSENGER spacecraft. According to NASA: "The MESSENGER spacecraft is the first ever to orbit the planet Mercury, and the spacecraft's seven scientific instruments and radio science investigation are unraveling the history and evolution of the Solar System's innermost planet." The video also shows sequences of the spacecraft and how it works. CREDITS: All motion and still images were released by NASA (PUBLIC DOMAIN) in association with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and the Carnegie Institution of Washington. All the background music was composed, interpreted and produced by BUTTERFLY TEA - The songs names are (in chronological order): "End of the Wonders", "Princess of Phantasy" & "Another World", from the album "Another World", released by its author under an Attribution, Non-commercial, Share-alike, 3.0 Creative Commons License. • very interesting. .

  • @morgansher Dear friend, I do not see that as a disagreement. I have seen many years of moon-viewing too and your comments are appreciated. I take no offense. Nice to know others actually are interested -other than those who are the sources. Warm regards, Laela

  • @AstroRadar I read the credits Thilo, and this gives me an opportunity to tell you that you are more than an amateur here, the quality of your uploads speak for themselves and I have a number of yours on my channel. I have a laughable telescope - best I can see is Jupiter and her moons but there is just something so exciting about just looking at these. Highlight of last summer - watching the spacestation travel overhead on the only 3 nights of visibility. Am a follower of your channel. Laela

  • @laelamarie1: Interesting discussion! Just in case, my name is THILO HANISCH L. , the author of Astronomy Radar, and I'm not an astrophysicist. I'm just an Amateur Astronomer, although I have been enrolled in a Master of Astronomy, for a while, I'm not an "authority" in the field or something... I rely on the descriptions and explanations that other scientists give to the images that they release... Again, many thanks for your kindness and positive feedback on this channel. Sincerely, THL

  • @laelamarie1 Hope you didn't mind the disagreement. I've spent most of 57 years looking at the moon and maps of the moon, so the differences between it and what we saw on this Mercury film were huge to my eyes is all.

  • @morgansher WOW - someone actually reads comments? initially upon viewing I though the topography interesting, almost "convoluted" craters... and you are right..it just reminds me of moonscape. I didn't want to compare the enhanced color - kept thinking as I was viewing this what that quiet-appearing environment must really be like. Thank you for the response...don't often get them here...astrophysicists must be reallly busy.

  • @laelamarie1 I'm gonna disagree - put a lunar pic side by side and there are huge differences.

  • Fascinating...looks like the moon. Thank you for uploading and enjoyed the tutorial.
