actually the usura-datura single they played right after is the more subversive track of the two....

I remember this like it was yesterday! I remember telling my Mum, who listened to the Top 40 every week while she was ironing, that it was coming up because I was massively into RATM and wanted her to hear it. We both got a shock when the unedited version came on though - I hadn't told Mum about that bit....

Metallica's 'Sad but true' and Pantera's 'Walk' in the top 40 that day aswell, AWESOME!!!!!!!

@aldhous you must be mistaken for when it was number 25 the following week
-
@mrstevieabs He didn't get fired, He just accidently played this song uncensored and apologised the following week.

@aldhous THis definately NOT fake, i remember sitting in my badroom age 15 with my mate PISSING ourselves laughing. AND it cost Bruno his job at radio1. Fact.

This is definitely a real clip from the charts. The track played before was the theme to that bloody awful romatic comedy drama series Love Hurts, with Adam faith and Zoe Wanamaker - I really hated that programme.
After Killing in the Name was the start of the track Open Your Mind, by Usura - a great track and video, unfortunately I was too young to go to raves or take any happy pills ;-) I'm guessing this was from late 1992 or early 93, these songs were out when I was in 5th year at school.
RIP Bruno, you will be sadly missed :(

I don't want to be a partypooper but this upload is a FAKE.
I heard this very chart rundown when RATM first hit the top 40. I was around the time I used to record the charts on tape... yeah, I was pretty cool.
I recorded this show, and Radio One ungraciously lobbed off the ending. I played the cassette back for a good few days before I got into town and bought the single. Imagine my surprise when I got to the end!
If I'm wrong and doing a disservice I apologise, but I bet I'm not...

@aldhous I promise you this isn't fake. I don't see what the point would be of making it up? And besides it's well known this actually happened. I sent this to Simon Sadler recently who was the producer at the time and he explained neither he nor Bruno had noticed what had happened because Simon was in the next studio making a trail and Bruno was cueing up the next record. Perhaps you heard it on the chart show the following week?
