  • My God, he lived to be 33 and died the year Secretariat raced as 3 yr old, '73. A long life for a great horse.

  • It is crazy. Thankfully there are a few colour photos of him as a stallion!

  • Hi Carly, yes thankfully.... I especially love the first one with his neck crested or bowed. What a magnificant creature. Beautiful chestnut, if that's his true color. What do you think wld happen if Count Fleet, Man O'War and Secretariat were each in adjoining paddocks as "retirees". I read that when they brought Spectacular Bid in Secretariat wld raise hell and run up and down his paddock whinnying. What a sight that wld be to behold ! Have you seen cf1970's new 1:22 video of him?

  • I am pretty sure count fleet was brown, kind of looks like a liver chestnut.

Bid and Sec were at the same barn! WOW what a trip that would have been!

    cf's video was great!

  • Yes ! There was and maybe still is a Blood Horse cover, no article inside, on Ebay for $25 showing Spectacular Bid being led down a dirt road alongside a fence... and there is .... "Guess Who,"... sizing him up! (from inside the fenced paddock of course.

  • Oh wow! I had no idea. Really, I had no idea where Bid stood his stud Career. That's so cool!

  • I don't know much about him but thank you for this vid! Talk about "eat my dust!"

  • According to my 1957 american racing manual (a book i was lucky to get hold of)count fleet was a brown horse, won the belmont by 25 lenghths,a champion in any one's language! cheers from an aussie lover of the noble thoroughbred.

  • He is. And the list of those who agree with you is a mile long.

  • My favorite Triple Crown winner. back then it was just go as fast as you could....he was the one. Also gotta love the sign in the background about "air raids". totally gives the video the 40's feeling.....LOVE IT!
