On August 9th, our Aussie Dog, Zoe injured herself while no one was home, and Chris and I were out of state. We have no idea what she did to hurt herself. Christina called us and described something pretty upsetting. There was a small injury above her hock, and she was hopping on three legs.
When we got home, I felt it, and sadly it felt like the Achilles Tendon was completely ruptured. We took her to the vet within 48 hours of the injury. He didnt want to assume anything, prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, wanted her to come back in a week. A week later, no difference. I pushed to have XRays a week later. No broken bones. Tendons are just shadows in the Xray, but it did appear as if her Achilles Tendon had completey ruptured. Turns out that in order for Achilles Tendon ruptures to have the best chance of healing, they need to be done within the first 48 hours. The cost was over $3000, not including months and months of physical therapy. Unfortunately, Chris and I just dont have that right now :(
Onward to good news.
During the first weeks after the injury, I found a wonderful place called OrthoPets. (orthopets.com) An orthopedist doing wonderful things for animals.
Fast forward to today. We just received Zoes custom brace. Shes back on four legs :) Nearly normal!
Thank you Marty, Amy and Megan at OrthoPets!

Thank you so much for posting this on YouTube. My American Bulldog has partially torn ligament on his left knee and the only option is to operate him. I don't have $4000.00 to do the surgury and looking through Vidios yours has been the most helpful. I am a Pet Parent and he means the world to me. Thank you so much!!!
