The Tripods "Next Time" - Episode 1

Available to buy on Second Sight/BBC DVD "The Tripods" is a much under-appreciated 1980s BBC science fiction serial. The programme was based on John Christopher's "Tripods Trilogy". Buy the DVDs then we might get a release of the long-awaited second series! This video is the style of the "Next Time" segments of 2005's fantastic "Doctor Who" series.

i agree. the tripods was a great British sci fi series. I watched it when it was screened in Australia on ABC I think in the late 80s. Season 2 hasnt has an official DVD release yet, but is available from collectors. Shame they never filmed the 3rd and final season.

If I remember rightly the production of the series was co-funded by an Australian TV company.

I discovered the books when I was 11 (over 35 years ago) and was a sci fi fan for life. They still remain my favourite series of all time. Douglas Adams is a close second. :)

@Scooby71Doo This was made in the 1980's the was no cg then (or if there was any it wouldn't be very good) I never noticed bad acting and they did very well with the whole effects thing even if it did cost them alot. if you like the books better just say so and don't nitpick at uneccecery things. Of corse this wouldn't be hollywood block buster standerds, it was bbc in the 1980's
