(Needs to be played in High Quality) An estimated 8,000 purple martins came to Richmond (ok, on youtube they disappear at times ... check out at 1:10). One of three roosts in Virginia, it is extremely rare for these birds to roost in public spaces. Sorry for the shaky camera ... it was happy hour at Havana 59.
great video. The martins are flying again this year. Come down to the Farmer's Market and see them.

I am happy to know that martins are roosting in Richmond. I have to say that the dubbed music was distracting from the actual sounds of the birds; however, I loved your vid, and I recommended it to all of my martin lover friends!! When was that recorded? I live in Washington,D.C. and Virginia Beach, and I would love to witness that next year....Very cool video!!!!
