http://englishharmony.com/improve-spoken-english.php Do you always care about what others think of your level of spoken English? Do you often find yourself in situations when you get very embarrassed when you speak and then you just shut up in case others think you're a useless English speaker?

I have a cure for this - a decent doze of ignorance will help you through such situations and make into a more confident foreign English speaker!

  • you're awesome:-)

  • @TheMax8900 Thanks! ;-)

  • thanks for your advice, and yeah you're right,we are often too worried about what other people think about us, not only in speaking english but in other daily life situations. I was in an english class and when I talk to teacher, who was the same country like me, I almost had no problems, but when I tried to speak to her assistant who was an american speaker, I started to stumble and didn't know what to say because I got worried and nervous thinking of what would be her opinion about me

  • @treposillo That's exactly what I'm talking about in this video! I know it's not easy to deal with the anxiety, and to be honest with you - some of it will probably always remain with us. Yet we can do a lot in order to alleviate it, and ignorance is a very powerful tool.

Let's say you're talking to the assistant you mentioned. Try to visualize it's your teacher you're talking to, or speak as if you're speaking with yourself. Remember - successful people often ignore others! :-))

  • One of the best tips for ESLs. I am also facing the same problem though i can read & wright english but whenever i confront with a english speaker I lack confidence & afraid of making mistakes hence I avoid having conversation with those guys !!! But your tip is very awesome & useful :) Thanks :)

  • @Arvindvsharma I know how it feels, but the only way to deal with your fear is to engage in conversations. You'll make mistakes, but if you ignore shame and embarrassment that come along with it you'll get better at it. Thanks for the comment!
