The Dixieland Days Kijkduin is a festival that usually takes place during the summer holidays.
The Dixieland Crackerjacks played many years at this festival, like in 2007 & 2008.

After the recordings made during the Jazz Festivals in Portugal: Cantanhede Dixieland Festival and the United Kingdom: Birmingham International Jazz Festival this is the third interpretation of the song on a festival this year.
A much more wellknown version was recorded a year earlier in a shopping mall in Groningen, the Netherlands where Hein Overbeek played the banjo and someone else handled the trumpet.

This version is recorded with :

Lielian Tan : drums
Koos Greven : banjo
Michel Muller : trumpet
Slidin' Selena : trombone
Bert Brandsma : bass saxophone

In 2008 the festival is renamed : Seaside Jazz Festival, to make it possible to also add more modern styles of Jazz.
We only hope that this won't lead in eventually degrading the festival in a commercial rock/blues event that has nothing of it's original musical values left, like has happened with too many festivals in the Netherlands.
(Den Helder allready renamed it's festival many years earlier : Jazz & Muziek weekend...... since when isn't Jazz considered music anymore?????)

One of the best recordings of this number ever was made by Bix Beiderbecke on the cornet who joined forces with the great bass saxophonist Adrian Rollini in 1927.

Let me see, this one was played on the Martin bass. Usually I had an attachement on this, but I removed it for the Portugal tour a couple of weeks earlier.

We would love to come to Canada, but I don't have any contacts with organizers there. Right now we are in contact about playing at Jazz festivals in Brazil,United Kingdom and Portugal for next year, but nothing definite yet.

Bert, what "attachment" are you referring to for the bass sax ? One that changes the pitch ? Pardon my ignorance.
