In this show we discuss ways to get a good gaming experience despite a money constraint.

This is the game design related episode for "Dungeons and Dragons Month." In this episode, we discuss the gaming phenomenon known as "analysis paralysis," and provide a review of a game that is at risk for this condition.

The video was done using DAZ 3D Studio (a free download), Mimic for DAZ Studio, and Windows Movie Maker. PC footage was captured using Game Cam and Cam Studio, and all console footage was captured on DVD and retrieved using Easy DVD Ripper. Special effects were done with Adobe After Effects and individual pictures were done in Photoshop. Audio was done with Audacity.

I hope you enjoy the show. Please leave your comments, questions, or suggestions in the feedback section below.

  • *sigh* You mentioned that Bioware did Icewind dale, I guese even today people are making that mistake. Please take into consideration that Black isle studios did this game, not Bioware. Bioware did Bauldur's Gate, while Black Isle made the original Fallout.

  • Thanks. I should have realized it, as many times as I saw that introduction. They licensed the Bioware Infinity Engine for the game, but you are correct in that it was Black Isle.

I've added a comment in the video at 4:38 about it.

Again, thanks for catching this error, and thanks for watching!

  • Thank you for correcting the mistake, as well as doing an Icewind Dale review. A lot of people diss this game for Baldur's Gate, mainly because of the NPCs and storyline. I liked Baldur's Gate as much as the next person, but IWD will always have a place in my heart.

It's the closest anybodies gotten to making a goldbox style game (right up there with Temple of elemental evil) .

  • I agree completely. I loved the Gold Box games, and I liked the complete customization of Icewind Dale.

  • if that was a song from Icewind Dale at the end, it sounded amazing - i might try to find a soundtrack :O

  • It was, and the soundtrack is amazing. You should be able to find it on Amazon or Ebay. I know that if you buy the "Ultimate Collection" of the Icewind Dale games, you will get a copy of the soundtrack in the bundle.

  • Good to see another NooBTooB comrade

Excellent review! I'm playing Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment as we speak.

I'm planning on beating them both, then PC Baldur Gate series

  • great review

  • @salvo711 the GOG.com version has the soundtrack.

  • Outstanding video very informative and great review. my only gripe is that you didn't do a review for the original baldurs gate and baldurs gate 2

  • what games have you made and do you ever play iwd2 online? ive never played online

  • icewind is best game ever!

  • just bought icewind for 10euro :D, its well wort the cash.

  • NPC mod for IWD1, after playing throughly, I have to admit

    It's lame.

Compare to the NPC mod made for IWD II, IWD NPC mod offers too less option and too childish to my likings.

  • Or you can just install the community resolution mod that allows you the set it to the resolution you want.

It works for the Icewind Dale series, Baldurs Gate series and Planescape Torment.
