For your turnouts & crossover did you go DCC for them or did you use the regular switch machines?

they are just the regular Kato switch levers.

Yes I really do like this layout. Can't wait to see more of it. I'm doing the same thing. I look at layouts, but I keep coming back to the Amherst.
I once built Woodland Scenic "Scenic Ridge" layout, but like a dummy I got rid of it. So I want to do a Kato layout. Now is this whole layout DCC, and if so which system do you think is best?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It is all DCC, however, I have a toggle switch wired into the layout that will allow me to switch from DCC to a dc system in the flick of a switch. I am using NCE power cab. It cost me around 140.00 it works very well, however I am looking at a Digitrax system. If you would like more info on the switch form dcc to dc send me an email.

I love this layout. I've got 3 x 6 table and I would like to build this layout without the extra yard track for now. My question is did this layout start with the one on the kato usa track plan site. Amherst 2005?

How funny that you noticed that. It started as the Amherst layout and then I made some minor variations. I searched for awhile looking for some layouts that I liked, and every time i kept going back to the Amherst plan. I laid out the Amherst plan and it was a little smaller than I thought it would look like, so I just played of of it and made it a little bigger and small changes here and there. I am assuming that you like the amherst plan as well?
