The first two levels of Repton 2, Tim Tyler's 1985 sequel to Repton, published by Superior Software (http://www.superiorinteractive.com/repton/2.htm) and played on the BeebEm BBC Micro emulator.

Repton 2 is a much more complex game than its predecessor. The first level contains transporters to the other fifteen levels, allowing them to be played in any order (except for a few traps that make the game impossible if certain levels are played before certain others). In this video I start with Screens G and H, since these are, if not the hardest, certainly the most luck-dependent levels, and getting them out of the way makes it less likely that a whole hour's progress will be wasted by a stroke of bad luck.

Repton 2 is a little more tedious to watch than Repton 1, as in this game it is necessary to collect all the earth sections (of which there are 4744). To alleviate this a little, in this playthrough the videos are sped up slightly and put to new audio tracks. In this video the audio is "The Chrysanthemum" by Scott Joplin, the piece from which the original Repton 2 music was taken, but now you can hear the whole piece and not just the short fragment that was used in Repton 2.

  • Magic!! Thanks. Love this game still today. Even tho you had no saves and it was glitchy as hell - Rocks that monsters would run thru and buggering up pathways for pesky Spirits. The really is nothing like this these days sadly, its all FPS now.

  • you, sir,, just ruined my entire childhood in 9:28 min ;p

  • *posting from boyfriend's account* Damn, this game was hard! Even to this day I struggle. I find it very hard to dodge the meteors in particular... >_<

  • Oh, I loved it! I used to play it with a monochrome monitor in 1987 :)

    Thank you for the upload!

  • @pappachook I'm game maker, I can make a little remake of it :D

  • @pappachook - I totally agree with you. There was a certain magic about the BBC Micro and I enjoyed playing it as a teenager back in the early 90s. I would still continue playing the Beeb now but sadly, my parents ditched it after I left home because they thought that I didn't want it any more :-( My bad for not telling them though.

  • I couldn't of done that level better myself... i grew up with this game on the bbc micro... Grrr8 Game! love it! thanks for uploadin it!!
