I compared a color laser printer to an inkjet printer with similar print speeds and a similar purchase price. Is inkjet ready for general office use? We think so.

  • @chiefofsages Keep in mind this is a business class inkjet and I can't name another with yields this high. Also, these are published yields and you'll never get 7,000 pages out of an ink cartridge just like you'd never get the published yields from laser unless you're only printing ISO test targets. These inkjet cartridges are very large and as far as speed, if you're not printing 2-sided, this thing prints fairly fast. My tests showed it took <48 seconds to print 10 typical pages.

  • Honestly, I have a hard time believing this. Granted, I don't use top-of-the-line products, but still. My laser (B&W) printed out about 150 letters in a matter of ten minutes. Inkjet took me over an hour (and went through $30 worth of ink). My laser toner still has plenty of juice left in it. Maybe my inkjet is a piece of crap, though.

I also doubt that those four cartridges would last 7,000 pages as you state when comparing it to the laser.
