@Meggie1824 Sure there is....A flash mob (or flashmob) is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual act for a brief time, then disperse. The term flash mob is generally applied only to gatherings organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails. The term is generally not applied to events organized by public relations firms, protests, and publicity stunts.
Sheesh, lighten up! Although not "perfect", the fact that this was actually happening in Vancouver (we tend to be shy folk) was a plus. Apologies to the I-take-myself-oh-so-seriously-performance-artists out there.
A real "flash mob" would not have stood around organizing like you did, nor cheer and hang around after. It is supposed to be surprising when it starts, not tons of people standing around saying what are these people planning. When you are done, no cheering, no talking, no staying, walk away. Fail flash mob, successful organized dance on Robson (even tho everyone was out of sync, which invited randoms to join)
Nice video. It looks like everyone had fun, but this isn't a flash mob.

@agbguitar I'm pretty sure there is no criteria for a flash mob. Let them do what they want....they had fun at least.
