NS 995

For the first time since January 6, 2005, NS 6653 is headed for the SC side. This engine was involved in the 192/P22 collision in Graniteville on that cold January morning and has since been a resident of Augusta Yard since 2005. 6653 is heavily corroed, damaged, and rusted. The damage serves as a reminder that the RR is not a easy job, which the residents of Graniteville will never understand. I was very surprised to see this leave as I thought it would be atleast 2011 before this would leave. I guess NS 4622 and NS 6593 will soon be leaving as the lawsuits get settled.

Dedicated to "CS", who died in Graniteville sometime after his train took the open switch into a stopped P22. 6653 is on car trucks and was limited to 30 MPH as NS 8879 pulls it to maybe its final resting place.This has been rumored to be rebuilt by NS, but most people want it retired and scraped on the spot.

Just got word that the power move I saw Thursday night was NS 4622 and NS 6593 being moved north they were being pulled by a dash-9.

NS 6653 was rebuilt in November of 2010 as SD60E #6900.
