The Go-Betweens were founded by Robert Forster and Grant McLennan. McLennan received a number of accolades recognising his achievements and contributions as songwriter and lyricist, including the naming of his 1983 composition "Cattle and Cane" by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) as one of the 30 greatest Australian songs of all time.
Grant McLennan died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 48.
This live recording of The Go-Betweens of "Cattle And Cane", just goes to show how much of a sweet guy Grant was. I love that he goes into the crowd and sings. This is from the ABC music program Rock Arena, recorded in back in the pre-DVD days of 1987.
thank you for the video and eternal love to Grant for this timeless song.

Take 2. Great hookline. Grant's imagery weaves a rich picture. Any takers to put together a video using the original full band version? Go on!
